Coleman is from Lancashire. She was the head girl at Arnold School, Blackpool and was awarded straight A's on her A level. When Coleman was asked about her role in Emmerdale she stated she regretted having not had an experience like the traditional one at university. Coleman joined a theater company, In Yer Space while in school. The company performed during the Edinburgh Festival for the play Crystal Clear. An award was presented to her for the presentation, while the show was received well. Coleman got the part as Jasmine Thomas while she was performing at drama school. The audition took place in 2005. Coleman was nominated in 2007 for two Awards. At the British Soap Awards she was named Best Newcomer, and during the National Television Awards she was nominated as The Most Popular Newcomer. Coleman was awarded nominations as Best Actress, Sexiest Woman and for the Best Dramatic Performance at the British Soap Awards 2009. Coleman was awarded an award at the TV Choice Awards nomination for Best Actress. On the 21st March, 2012 Doctor Who producer Steven Moffat made it clear at a press conference that Coleman will play the Doctor's companion alongside Matt Smith after Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill have left the show. Moffat has decided to cast her in the role as she had the best chemistry with Smith. She also spoke more quickly than he does. She is more well-known for her television work rather than film. Eva is most well-known for her role on the show Dr. Maria Santos on All My Children and as the detective Natalia Boa Vistas on CSI Miami. It was the former that gave Eva two nominations for a Daytime Emmy.' She also got to show off her artistic side via music. Eva isn't just an actress, she is an entrepreneur and philanthropist. Three times married, she has a daughter who is along with her husband.
