Alison Maria Krauss is an American singer-songwriter and bluegrass country musician. She was born on the 23rd of July 1971. She began her career in the industry at an early age having won local competitions at 10, before making her first recording at the age of 14. The year 1985 saw her signed with Rounder Records and in 1987 she released her first solo album. The year 1989 saw her asked to be a part of Alison Krauss & Union Station together with whom she performed.
